Skymarks First Run

Step 1: Login

When Skymarks first runs it will prompt you to login using the same credentials with which you registered at the website. If you have not yet registered, click the link to go to the website to register. If you have forgotten your password, you may click the “Forgot Password” link to visit the website to retrieve your password.

Step 2: Synchronize

Once login is successful, you will need to sync your bookmarks. Choose “Full Sync” will merge the bookmarks on your desktop with the bookmarks on the server. This is the most common (and recommended) type of sync.

In some cases you may want to perform a “Server Sync” – which overwrites the server’s bookmarks with the ones on your desktop. There is also a “Client Sync” - which overwrites the desktop’s bookmarks with the ones from the server.

Step 3: Setting Preferences

Background Operations – you may set the interval at which you would like your Skymarks client to connect to the server to keep your bookmarks in sync. We recommend that the more bookmark activity you have, the shorter the interval should be. For example, if you are sharing bookmarks with a few others, you may want to set a lower sync interval as others may be adding bookmarks at any time.

Startup Operations – These options are self-explanatory. It is recommended that you at least launch Skymarks with Windows so that you don’t have to do anything to keep your bookmarks synchronized.

Internet Connection Speed – Make the appropriate choice based on your connection. Skymarks will calibrate its server operations based on your selection. That is, if the “Dial-up” option is selected, the server-based operations will be given more time to complete than if “Broadband” was selected.
